Long time, no blog ...

...but I have a good excuse. Sorta. Well, not really, but I'm here now. So I took the red-eye to England on August 9th, yup, which means I landed on August 10th the day the terror raids went down in London. Luckily, we were one of the last planes to land before Heathrow shut down and didn't have to be diverted elsewhere in Europe, but unlucky in that we spent 4 hours on the runway waiting for the airport to reopen. Fun times indeed. Poor Sarah was stuck at Heathrow waiting to pick us up and was surely loosing her mind as her groom-to-be was also trying to make it back to the UK from Northern Ireland. Needless to say, drama was the order of the day. Once we got out of Heathrow and Simo was delivered to a local Royal Air Force base after much ado, we were off to the rehearsal(4 hours late, but whaddaya gonna do).

The wedding was beautiful and the reception an absolute riot complete with an Elvis impersonator. But the best part of the day was getting to see my friends from Diego Garcia again; I can't believe it's been 7 years...where does the time go? The other great part of the day was that my Dad wore his Dress Blues for the first time in 24 years and the numerous Royal Marines in attendance treated him like a star. I should have some pictures up soon (well, as soon as I find the USB cable as it's gone missing a.g.a.i.n.).

On a related missing USB cable note, does anyone want a cute litte brown cat? She's lovely, but she does have a bad habit of playing with important things (like USB cables) and leaving them in very inconvenient places (like the fireplace, under the couch, the garbage disposal, etc).

Not much else has gone on since I've been back from England, just working and enjoying the waning days of summer. G had a short overnight in LA a few weeks back and we were able to have breakfast together and that was nice. He's got a busy few weeks ahead of him with a checkride to prepare for and some Navy requirements to get out of the way, but after that I'm hoping to make another trip to CRP to get some more flying in.

I hope everyone is doing well...drop me a line and let me know what's going on in your world.

In response to your comment on my blog...

Who, exactly, are your "beloved Kings?"

The LA Kings...I've only been following them since 1988 but I'm hooked. I'd never been interested in hockey before until I was offered tickets to a game and that was it...game on!

Been following the L.A. Kings since I was born.

They lost tonight,4-3 to the team from the county to the south who shall not be named but whose name rhymes with "Sucks." But Anze Kopitar (the King's 19 year-old rookie center) scored the first TWO goals of his NHL career tonight!!

Can't wait to go tomorrow evening!!!

Finally another Kings fan! You'd think living in LA I'd run into a few of them but noooo. Seems everyone jumped on the Mighty Schmucks bandwagon a few years ago and forgot about the Kings.

I was impressed with last night's game...the boys are looking good and I'm always happy to see the Blues go down for snagging Gretzky from us. How was the atmosphere at Staples?

Thanks for the link to letsgokings!

A little over half way into the 06-07 season, and the Kings are on their way to a top-3 pick in the upcoming amateur draft! WOOHOO!

BTW, that means we suck.

Where have you been, lately?

I've been around; just not blogging much. Had my own medical woes that took me out of commission from mid Sept to mid Oct (btw, vicodin is good) and then had to catch up with 4 weeks of work. Then the holidays rolled around and I was putting $ in your airline's coffers to visit family and friends and now I'm back to the ole grind.

Now about our Kings; thanks for laugh about the draft pick. Remember back in the mid 90's when we played the Senators? At least we knew we'd get a "W" when they were on the schedule and now the Kings are that team. Woe is me. At least they scored twice against PHX (just too bad PHX scored 3; I never liked those Coytoes much). It was nice to see Luc get his number retired; I wonder if we'll get 20 goals in his honor before the season ends (doubtful, but a girl can dream).

Hope all is well with you and you're enjoying a decent schedule these days.
